Rune Magic

Rune Magic is powerful, if you know how to use it, brand of magic. There are three types.

Written Rune Magic (Also called 'Binding Magic')

Scar Rune Magic (Also called 'Tattoo Magic')

Birth Rune Magic (also known as Genesis Magic)

Runes themselves, while seemingly to be nothing but strange little shapes, can sometimes actually be powerful channels of raw magic given form.

Written Rune Magic is the most basic, with one using simple Runes to entrap or to summon.

Scar Rune Magic is a bit more complex. They mark themselves with runes, deep into their flesh, and channel powerful magic through themselves into something tangible. However, since a normal body is not made to deal with such an influx, this is one of the more dangerous types of magics to use, since it could literally rip someone into pieces from the inside out... or make them simply cease to exist.

Birth Rune Magic is the most powerful and rarest of the three, since it is literally born into a person. There are two types of Birth Rune Magic users. The first, and most commonly referred to, is those who are born with their Runes immediatly apparent on their bodies. The second kind, called Manifest Rune, are those who 'manifest' the runes later.
Both types are very powerful though, however they can never reach their full potential unless they are taught on how to properly use their rune magic. Their bodies can stand the tremendous magical pressure from using Rune Magic with ease, and if two were to fight, the ending would not be pretty.
One of the things they can do without learning is create a 'link' to other people. It binds the Birth Rune user up to five other people of their choosing, no matter what race or species. This link allows the Birth Rune user to send telepathic messages to those who he/she/it is connected to, share emotions, and in some case even teleport them to where they are!

Birth Rune Magic only occur in 1 in every 3496 humans however, but it is rumored to occur much more often in Dryads, in a ratio of eight to every 530. However, this is only a rumor since anyone who's asked a dryad are often gulped down before they can get an answer!

A curious fact uncovered by two succubi named Riena and Haruko is that Birth Rune Magic users don't have a 'real' soul. In their short essay, 'The Problem with Runes', Riena and Haruko outlined how the soul of a Birth Rune user is not intangible and not tangible, it is instead a specific set of strange energies that do not take form and are essentially amoral in their decisions, that after a Birth Rune user dies, the energies leave the body and reform either inside of another body to be born once again, or become some sort of entity that one could summon. However, this research did not come without a price, for shortly after, Riena vanished and Haruko was left a broken mess of mangled nerves and destroyed sanity. Nobody in Hell or Heaven knows what happened.
