Offers for Proofreading, Editing and Sub-Editing Thread

This is the thread for those of us who want to offer our skills in assisting others with their stories. There are quite a few of us who do this, so I thought it sensible to have all our offers in once place. This way it will be easy for anybody looking for a Proof-Reader, Editor or Sub-Editor to find one.

I'm pretty sure these are accurate descriptions of the following:

• Editor: Suggests changes to storyline and/or plot, makes changes to improve story flow/rhythm.
  
• Sub-Editor: Checks spelling and grammar, helps improve sentence structure.
  
• Proofreader: Checks spelling and grammar
  

These definitions are important, you don't get a sub-editor to do an editor's job, it doesn't work.
To use an example, Stabs asked me to do what was essentially the work of an editor. I accepted, not really understanding at the time that he wanted an editor. I am a sub-editor, so I will not suggest changes to the story line, which is what he wanted. Neither of us was at fault, we just didn't communicate exactly what we wanted.

I think this would be good if everyone posts their offer once then updates their post with their current workload (so if someone is already working on many things they don't get asked to do more and accept even though they will be overloaded). Don't forget to include your level of editing.

My Offer:

I can do sub-editing work for anyone, as I have a LOT of spare time.
I'm a little bit busy at the moment. I can still edit though.

Also, if English is not your first language and you want to make a complex post in the forum and you're not sure everyone will understand what you're trying to say, I can help.
(I don't speak any language other than english, but I find I can understand and explain to others what someone is trying to say).

I offer my services as an Editor and a Proofreader. I will also do SOME Sub-Editing.

I, too, have free time and a willingness to help.

I'm willing to work as a Sub-Editor. Maybe an Editor but I'd need more time for that.

Hmmm...I could be a proofreader. Possibly a sub-editor, but it would depend on free time.

Btw, if someone asks for services is it going to be first come first served on providing service? More people ask to help than need it so far...

It looks like it so far. I'm seeing JT credited a lot for proofreading.

One of the reasons I made this thread was so we could keep track of who is doing what

Well, could i get some help from a sub editor or a proofreader on my fan fic still young? i only have the prologue and first chapter up but I know English isn't really my first language and I wanna fix any mistakes I may have made ^^;

Err, but off more than I could chew. I really don't have the ability to do corrections on long chapters that need only fine-tuning... I apologize for this oversight, and am removed from the roster...

Hey there, everyone. While I'm not what you'd call an especially active member on the online Felarya community, I am an avid fan of Felarya and as such would also like to offer my services in this area.

I can work as an Editor, Sub-Editor or Proofreader to anyone who wishes to have their work looked at.

Credentials: I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature with an emphasis in creative writing. I've had quite a bit of experience and training with writing reports, essays as well as training in the classics and modern literature styles. I can even critique poetry.

Be forewarned, I take editing seriously. Where I may seem blunt I assure you that I do it for the sake of making a manuscript better.

I can no longer offer proofreading due to my leave of absence to be taken.

I'm going to just say the same thing, word for word.

Also, I'd like to note that I wouldn't mind a bit of sub-editing work on any of my IC or story-related posts on the board.

I can help anyone with proofreading and editing, however I work odd hours of the day and might not be available when others are. Also, I'm a bit of a spelling freak, so no misspelling, no matter how minor, will be overlooked.

Actually I'm looking for somebody who would proof read and correct my stories. I kow that this is a little difficult because of the different time-zones but maybe there'll be someone who can help me with this
