So true.
Feedback (even if it's negative) alwais gives the motivation to keep working and improving characters and stories, feedback feeds our souls alike humans feed... actually are food for... um --- anything big enough (and sometimes, even not)?

The total lack of it is quite sad both for the creator of the character, and the witnessers of its creation, for they have the duty, and right, to help and improve the work... after all, I really think that's one of the primary reasons for this community to exist Smile

But --- I say that stereotyped characters ain't totally wasted, since they can alwais have a fascinating appeal coming directly from the basic concept they're inspired of.
Originality comes from the story, if there's one. The simple character, without a proper background, is just a sketch of what could be, noting more.

Nanda for sure is not one of those Smile
A travelling Dridder concept (plus, with her "Test of Tasters" special ability) could make a good add to the Felaryan world, but even if escorted, in the outer world there are many perils that Dridders like her don't even expect, it's for sure an hard mission, since she's even weaker than the others of her kind.
Not that I mean that you should make her stronger or redo her "basic specs" and abilities... but maybe there's something more to write of, like the "reaction to dangers", due to her risky trips here and there.
It's your right to listen or not to these doubts, if not, whatever. It's just a thing that came up in my mind suddenly after all Razz

I totally agree with every word you just said. The sense of community really helps to think of what you might fix or what people like.

You got a point there. That's why when you have an stereotype or an simple character, you have to work some aspects to make them... unique. That's why, for example, I have a mute fairy in the Forest of Whispers. She might look like the stereotypical fairy, but she has her own facts. And the charm with simple characters is that you don't have to make things too complicated, but of course it doesn't mean you don't have to work on them: there's still work to do. Once thing is being simple, another one is being plain.

With Nanda, I preferred to part away from the stereotype of the usual dridder, given the feedback I got from Malicia - aka Nanda v0.1 -, who was a walking stereotype, and a failed one, I might add. xD After that, I really thought of how to reinvent the character and finally decided to try something different. Because Kyria and Seelvee, being unique, still fell in the stereotypes of fairies and dryads respectively, so it was time to get a little twist.

One thing that Felarya has and I think it's quite part of its appeal is the way characters are and how you can model them despite the stereotypes. It's not like you aimlessly create characters, you want to give them some life. And from my experience, Felarya sure encourages you to do so because of the setting's self uniqueness.

That's why I'd like to write some stories of her, since Nanda has lots of potential. Even more than Kyria and Seelvee.

We know she's a scout that has to be fast and agile to compensate the fact that she's WEAK (yep, in capitals) and that she likes exotic things (and food), but how will she react to dangers that might overcome her, being so weak even though she might be fast? That's something that could be explained in stories, but one thing I have for her is that she should outsmart such situations...

But we're talking of Felarya here. Sometimes being smart will work, but if your opponent is faster and stronger, you really have to be a genius or a lucky bastard to escape with your life. And still, chances are very thin.

Also, I mention that she isn't strong enough to keep her preys in her web. You can get an idea that Nanda has had her bad experiences (specially with nagas). But looking at it, it isn't enough, so in the future I might add more things about her reactions to dangers after I develop the character a bit in some story. After all, with Kyria and Seelvee, something similar happened: I had their bios done, but as I developed them - specially Kyria - in stories, I had to add some more facts.

Be sure Nanda will have some new things in her bio as soon as I work on stories featuring her. Smile

Just making some little changes in the bios, specially revealing Seelvee's age and adding and changing some things in Nanda's bio.

Also, I hope to get Nanda's very first story finished for the next week. xD

Made some little changes in my characters, specially in their feeding habits - making them more clear and not just "eat people" - and adding a new one... and about time I made his profile! Also, yes: this is no predator.

---

Name: Grigor Sergeievich Tarasov.

Species: Human (Outworlder).
Gender: Male.
Age: Late 80s (but he stopped aging at about 60 in Felarya).
Height: 6 feet, 2 inches.
Weight: 205 lbs.

Job: 'Murmur' inn-tavern's landlord.

Likes: Vodka, nice and smart people.
Dislikes: Predators, stupid people.

Abilities

- Natural survivor: Grigor had been in a large-scale war and despite his youth and lack of experience back then, he demonstraded a quite amazing survival instinct. That's helped him to stay alive in Felarya. Nowadays, he might not be as agile, but now he's a very experienced man in how to survive this wild world.

- Fast thinking: His brain is like a scientific calculator. He knows the list of prices in his inn-tavern by heart. He won't forget a face when he watches them for long enough. He'll remember many conversations word by word... You get the hint, right?

Pyshical description

Grigor is an old bald man with white beard. He's pretty tall and in the past he was a well-built, muscular man; nowadays, he isn't that muscular and even has some fat where his abdominals should be. Still, Grigor looks quite intimidating for someone of his age.

He just wears the usual tavern landlord attire, apron included. His clothes are quite simple and he doesn't have a fashion sense so to speak, as sometimes the colors won't match at all. But better don't tell him if you don't want to be humiliated...

Personality

Grigor is a very cunning man and fooling him isn't easy... but he can make a fool of you in a matter of seconds. He can spot anyone's weak points and hide his own. To couple this, he also has a sharp tongue.

Having a good relationship with him seems difficult and getting to work for him is also a hard task. Grigor likes to analyze people to make sure they are the right kind. If you happen to be a nice and smart person, you will have a good friend (or boss if you end working in 'Murmur', something only the neko waitress Mel has achieved) in Grigor; if not, you won't be safe from his poisoned stares and foul language.

Grigor doesn't like predators at all. He had to go through many of them to survive when he arrived in this world and until he reached Negav. He's tried to avoid them for now, but it looks like he's got to know some of them when taking supplies for his inn-tavern 'Murmur'. The exception to the 'hating them predators' rule is a dridder called Nanda, who once helped him taking the supplies to 'Murmur' when his horses were attacked by a Kensha beast and one of them got killed some years ago. But other predators are still in his black list...

As a final point, he calls himself a 'pure Soviet'. Truth to be told, this is more of a patrotic feeling rather than saying he's a communist - after all, how many landlords actually believe in communism?

Background story

Born in a large city from a wealthy family of military tradition, Grigor had been brought up to love and protect his country. A large-scale war broke out and despite being young and unexperienced, he joined the ranks. During the war, he also managed to begin his studies - despite the militar tradition, he always had a passion for science and many years later, his dream came true and joined an important government boureau specialized in research and development.

After hearing of rumors about a failed cloaking device experiment from a rival country, the department where he was working at decided to develop a secret project similar to that one, but they intended to make it an actual working project. Problem was that the experiment went wrong and Grigor and four of his partners ended in an alien world instead of creating a cloaking device.

This alien world is the one we all know as Felarya. Thanks to being a natural survivor, Grigor was the only one smart enough to survive the experience. The stories other 'foreigners' told his group helped him in knowing of the perils of this world and avoiding them. An expedition of the O.A.D.D., having heard of Grigor's group, picked him up, being the sole survivor of the group, and took him to Negav.

Grigor lived and worked for nearly a decade in Negav, learning more of this new world. He also thought he could make a living in Felarya by establishing a business somewhere people would need it. He heard of the Fairy Kingdom, the Forest of Whispers, the Temple of Lataran and the Giant Tree and how many people went from one place to another. Packing his things, he managed to rise enough money to build an inn at the north-east of the Forest of Whispers for adventurers to have a place for a deserved rest after hard work and for people new in Felarya to have a familiar first stop in this world.

Despite people thinking his business would fail, it's been more than 20 years since 'Murmur' was built and Grigor is making a lot of money thanks to these adventurers and newcomers. Of course, Grigor feels it's his duty as the innkeeper of such place to warn them of the dangers they'll meet. Not like no one told them to be careful when they met the n-th predator in a row...

Time to add another bio. This time we have the magician oddball Lorne. Next I'll be working on Yuritza.

---

Name: Lorne Santiago.

Species: Human (Felaryan).
Gender: Male.
Age: Early 30s.
Birthplace: Negav.
Height: 5 feet, 10 inches.
Weight: 165 lbs.

Job: Magician.

Likes: Magic, experimenting, meeting new people, knowledge on space-time.
Dislikes: Unknown.

Abilities

- Improvising wizard: The Santiago lineage is known for being a family of crazy wizards that love experimenting with magic. This means that they can think of a spell out of the blue and cast it. However, consequences are unknwon, given the improvising nature of such spells. Only those they've tested before are more stable. Lorne, of course, shares this trait with the rest of his family.

Pyshical description

Lorne is an average-looking man. He isn't too tall and he's also slim. Slightly tan and with short brown hair, his green eyes are always behind simple small glasses. He's sometimes tried to grow a goatee, but never got it to look right on his face.

He always wears the reddish robes of the Santiago family. Under it, his clothes change depending on the day: casual clothes, more elegant ones, and even just his underwear! Looks like Lorne has no sense of fashion at all.

Personality

When you think of Negavians, you might go for the "cynical egoist" stereotype. Lorne doesn't seem like that, and he is always in a good mood, looking at the bright side of life. His optimism could be a way to escape from the reality of Felarya, but it looks too genuine for being fake. The fact that he's living in Tolmeshal Forest right now could hint that his luck might have made him even more optimistic towards life.

He's also a very passionate person, specially when he's speaking of the "possibilites of bending time and space". Yes, he's been studying about the strange nature of Felarya, how space-time is distorted and the ways it could be helpful. Sometimes he goes too far when telling other people of this, boring them to death with the story of his life before reaching the part where he explains his interest in inter-dimensional topics.

And maybe it's the Santiago heritage, but Lorne isn't the kind of sane person you would find. In fact, he's an oddball. Sometimes he speaks nonsense and doesn't seem to care. As people have treated it as part of the "Santiago madness", when he speaks people tend not to give it too much importance... but they're also missing some jewels of truth when his insanity reveals his inner wisdom - wisdom he got from his studies, that's it.

Background story

Lorne was born and raised in Negav. As part of the Santiago family, he learned the basics of magic when he was a kid. After that, he began to experiment, just like the rest of the Santiago lineage - a family of magicians that even the Ps'isol Magiocrats believe to be just a group of zany and harmless people... for now. It is said that his most powerful spell, the Flashing Blaze, was developed when he tried to light his 13th birthday cake. Imagine the outcome.

He used to go to the Venmys-Pieaug Library just for fun and reading some books. One day he was there, he met Marisa, a woman who was working for the Organization for the Assistance of the Dimensionally Displaced (O.A.D.D.). She was looking for jobs some refugees could apply for at the library, and Lorne got interested in knowing more. This way, he learned of the space-time disturbances, the people form other worlds and Felarya's unestability.

Willing to know even more, Lorne passed the tests for joining the O.A.D.D. - even though no one believed he would make it - and worked there for some years. He was in charge of helping refugees to adapt to their new situation, but nothing related with studying space-time bending. So he got bored soon.

As he read about Ur-Sagol and Miragia Forest at the library, Lorne decided he had to leave Negav if he wanted to make actual progress. Saying goodbye to his family and armed with nothing but his improvised spells, Lorne went on his own quest for knowledge.

Currently, he's living in Tolmeshal Forest. Despite the dangerous nature of the woods, he's managed to stay alive with a combination of cunning, magic, his inherited madness and some luck. And why Tolmeshal Forest? Because it's a good place where he can go to either Ur-Sagol or Miragia Forest and come back.

His investigations, as far as it goes, haven't given him enough information. He's still on it, though, and he might need the help of someone for going further in his quest.

Also, there's something a bit off with Lorne lately. Maybe it's the Santiago craziness, maybe it's his obsession with space-time fluctuations... But definitely, Lorne hasn't changed for the best since he left Negav.

New bio up! Now it's Yuritza's turn, and you'll find she's quite of a stereotype. Don't worry, the interesting things will come as she stars more stories - along with Lorne.

Next time, Mel's bio will e up... and I'm already thinking of someone new, but I'd like to feature her first in some story before...

So with no further ado, Yuritza's bio:

---

Name: Yuritza Ventium

Species: Half-elf.
Gender: Female.
Age: Early 20s.
Birthplace: Saltzio, Kingdom of Loria, Realm of Durodia.
Height: 5 feet, 8 inches.
Weight: 128 lbs.

Job: Ranger.

Likes: Exploring, training, hunting, mechanics.
Dislikes: Being alone, staying away from her world.

Abilities

- Trap mastery: Being the daughter of an experienced hunter, she learned the arts of setting and disarming traps from her father. Mastering such skills has helped her to gain a reputation at home.

- Enhanced senses: Due to her elvish heritage, Yuritza's sight and hearing are beyond human's range, but slightly inferior to that of an elf's.

- Dual weapon fighting: Yuritza uses a pair of daggers when fighting, but any couple of light weapons in her arms will be good enough.

Pyshical description

Yuritza is a slim brunette half-elf that, despite her half-breed condition, looks more like an elf. Thus, her ears are pointier and her blue eyes have a special light in them. Of course, she shares that exotic beauty elves have as well.

She has a likeness for green, and so her clothes, be it casual or ranger ones, are always of a arge range of green tones. This is also because she's used to live near forests and for camouflage purposes. Also, she seems to prefer tight outfits, mainly because Yuritza feels more comfortable with a 'second skin' rather than with baggy clothes.

Personality

Even though rangers should be quite self-confident, Yuritza is a bit insecure about herself and her abilities. In part due to being a half-elf - in her home world, her kind wasn't well appreciated -, in part because she's a bit of a rookie ranger, this is translated in her not having a high self-esteem. But when under stress, she knows how to react and will show a different face, one more secure... and imprudent. That's right: when Yuritza is in danger, not only she's more self-confident, but also very careless, specially in a fight. And now that she's in Felarya, this could get worse... or not. Who knows?

It seems she's only confident and happy when dealing with traps, studying mechanisms, hunting and enjoying some peace. Those times, she's quiet and pleasant.

Background story

Yuritza was born as the daughter of a human hunter and an elf priestess. Her mother left both Yuritza and her father, as the religious order she belonged to immediately forbid her to stay nowhere near humans and their offspring, even the half-breed. This somehow affected Yuritza, blaming her own condition as the cause her mother left them. Her father tried to fill this hole with his unconditional love and training Yuritza as a ranger.

Then, time came for young Yuritza to begin a new life, having learned from her father about setting and disarming traps, hunting and fighting. Her first steps as an adventurer were hard, as no one - be it human or elf - trusted a half-elf in the Kingdom of Loria. Some groups of adventurers, however, found her trap mastery intersting. One of these groups hired her for retrieving a treasure in a dangerous dungeon. She got along pretty well with this group, the first one to not judge her because of her heritage, and found a new mentor in the figure of the wizard Isaias. But in the dungeon, while running away from a guardian golem, Yuritza was separated from her group...

It was due to the warping properties of the Miragia Forest what brought Yuritza from her homeworld Durodia to Felarya. Feeling lost and trying to find her way back home, Yuritza found the dridder scout Nanda. Although Yuritza didn't trust Nanda, they soon got along and even protected each other trying to escape from the guardian golem, which was also teleported to Felarya. Yuritza and Nanda seemed defeated, but thanks to the crazy wizard Lorne, who happened to be in the forest for his personal business, the golem was defeated and he took Yuritza to safety.

Currently, Yuritza is living with Lorne and she's letting him teach her about Felarya. Lorne knows that Yuritza can go back home thanks to the portal in Ur-Sagol, but needs her to grow stronger to survive the perils of this new world. Yuritza might either sucumb to her low self-esteem or actually become stronger and return to where she belongs to.

And here comes another bio! It's time know a bit more about 'Murmur' 's only waitress, Mel the neko. Nothing big, nothing original, but you gotta have to know her anyway. :3

---

Name: Melanie 'Mel' Woodrow

Species: Neko.
Gender: Female.
Age: 22.
Birthplace: Negav.
Height: 5 feet, 11 inches.
Weight: 132 lbs.

Job: Waitress in the inn and tavern 'Murmur'.

Likes: Listening to stories, meeting new people, her parents.
Dislikes: Tomthumbs and other tinies as food.

Predation: Safe

Abilities

Mel has no special abilities nor anything that would distinct her from other nekos.

Pyshical description

Mel is a tall and slim neko with mid-length brown hair and deep green and slited eyes. Brown fur covers her cat-like ears and tail. She also has some patches of fur on her chest, but no one has seen them, as she usually wears clothes that make sure not to show any bit of fur. Still, she's quite attractive, which gathers people's attention in the inn and tavern 'Murmur'.

Before she joined 'Murmur', Mel used to wear baggy clothes in many shades of blue and red. Nowadays, her usual clothing consists in a medieval-like waitress outfit, with which she feels even more comfortable.

Personality

Mel is a smart girl and always wants to think before acting. She has a calculating mind, always looking for any possibilities and chances, measuring the risks... For her disgrace, this wasn't a feature her former partners liked, since they preferred direct action with little to no use of their brains. This hasn't stopped her, however, but she had to give in many times for the sake of her dreams to have new experiences away from her former boring life in Negav.

Thanks to working with Grigor, though, she has begun to make her own decissions without letting others decide her destiny - aside from Grigor telling her which table she has to attend. And maybe because of working with him, Mel has become a bit stubborn sometimes, wanting to know more of people, and especially her employer. But there is nothing bad in her end, as she's a good listener, though a bit impatient when stories are long or full of details. She makes for a good chat, truth to be told.

Feeding habits

Despite it is known that many nekos like to eat Tomthumbs and other tinies, Mel is one of those exceptions to the rule. It isn't because she's against her roots, but because of the taste of such morsels. When she was a little girl, she once tried to gobble a Tomthumb, but he tasted so bad she had to spit him out of her mouth and let him escape.

So her diet is more like the usual human being's one, just adding more tuna and less vegetables to the mix.

Background story

Mel comes from a long ascendancy of Vithe nekos, but her parents have never experienced what it was belonging to such tribe, since they had always lived in Negav. But there was something inside this neko girl that made her miss the wandering and the adventures that many of her tribe had experienced, despite not having ever been with other Vithe nekos. So one day, after giving some thought, she told her parents how bored she was of their calm life and her decission to leave for new experiences. Her parents were worried, but understood her in the end, and Mel left with the promise of a letter every two weeks or so.

Knowing that she couldn't make her dreams come true alone, Mel visited a tavern in Negav, where she found a trio of strange and untalented adventurers: Atila, a tall young man with a broad sword and leader of the group; Hugo, a pathetic student of both alchemy and engineering; and Sussie, a rogue wizard whose spells often backfired. Mel lied to them, and said she was an explorer looking for a group to join. But even though she joined the group, her partners often insulted and made fun of her because she was a neko and because of her always relying in her common sense.

In their journeys, they finally decided to go after the treasures of the Lataran Temple, Mel being the only one who thought it was a bad idea to begin with. Unfortunatelly for them and lucikly for Mel, a fairy captured Atila, Sussie and Hugo. Knowing nowhere else to go after this, Mel went back to the last stop of their journey, the inn and tavern 'Murmur', at the north-east part of the Forest of Whispers. There she found shelter and work with the old innkeeper, Grigor, who despite not being a nice person, he felt this neko girl deserved better.

Nowadays, Mel is still working as a waitress in 'Murmur', listening to travelers' tales, meeting new people and sending a letter to her parents once every two months. It wasn't what she promised, but at least her parents will know that she's happy now... of course, when mail arrives, if it ever does.

Didn't really give more than a quick glance, but if something leaves 'nothing to the imagination' (the phrase is typically 'little to the imagination'), that means its revealing, not concealing. In fact, saying nothing vice little means she's probably a nudist. If she had fur on her chest and wore clothing that left 'little to the imagination', people would have seen the patches of fur, which contrasts with the statement just prior.

OK, last character in a very long time... And I mean it, I think I have a large enough cast of characters: a fairy, a dryad, a dridder, a neko, a couple of humans, a half-elf... and now... right from the deepest pits of Hell itself... well, maybe not THAT deep...

---

Name: Ruina Murnoe.
Nickname: The Dream Dweller.

Species: Succubus.
Gender: Female.
Age: At least 400 years old.
Birthplace: Hell.
Height: 112 feet.
Wingspan: 175 feet.
Weight: Unknown.

Likes: Dreams, souls.
Dislikes: Being banished, boredom, most of her tasks in Hell.

Predation: Highly Specialized

Abilities

- Dimensional magic: Despite being banished, outside the mortal planes her dimensional magic is quite strong, enough to create her own pocket realm called Mondo Ruina, where she stays when life in Hell gets boring. This domain of dimensional magic allows her to enter her victims' dreams, but this will be explained later.

- Illusions: Over the years and the knowledge she's gathered, Ruina can make use of illusions. Decades of training has made her illusions nearly flawless, and these allow her to disguise herself in people's dreams and to fool them into her 'realm'.

Pyshical description

Like many succubi, Ruina can be qualified as beautiful, in a vicious way. Aside from having nearly perfect measures in her gigantic body, she has an exotic touch in herself, with some black highlights on her red hair and ruby eyes. Her most distinct feature, aside from her goat horns and bat-like black wings, are the obsidian scales that cover part of her arms - specially her hands -, legs and torso. And of course, she wears nothing at all - she doesn't need clothes, anyway.

When in a dream, she can shape and size shift thanks to her illusions, so you'll never know what she'll be like this time... if you ever remember her, that's it.

Personality

Ruina isn't different from other succubi, as she's quite chaotic, but can still keep her temper quite well - remember that patience isn't known to be one of succubi's' strong points. She's also a somewhat spoiled succubus. Ruina gets bored easily with her tasks in Hell and always hopes for a break long enough to 'escape' to her pocket realm, haunt people in their dreams and feast on their souls.

There is nothing that could prove she's evil, but one thing for sure is that Ruina is ambitious. This has to do in part with her being banished two hundred years ago, and she's constantly making plans on how to return to what people call "the physical world". But looks like she's found something that suits her perfectly...

Feeding habits

Aside from feasting on souls of the damned in Hell, Ruina feeds herself with excitement and lust. No matter the way it comes, she can't keep herself bored for long, as such excitement mantains her active.

One way she's found to savour it outside Hell is through people's dreams. She knows that mortal souls project themselves in dreams, and so she lurks such dreams in search of food. Once she's located the perfect prey, Ruina fuses her pocket realm, called Mondo Ruina, with the dream of her victim. Using her illusions, she erases the separation between both 'worlds', leading the unfortunate soul to their fate. She claims souls in dreams are better than those in Hell.

A soul devoured this way, however, doesn't cease to exist, as it'll return to the victim's body seemingly unharmed. But getting eaten by Ruina in one's dream has a side effect: this person will experience some memory loss, as no one will ever remember Ruina and that specific dream, and some skills related with mind will degenerate. The effects will get worse if a mind and soul is devoured many more times by her - she visits her victims quite frequently if their souls 'taste' good -, ending in irreversible madness. Of course, only Ruina knows the relation between that madness and herself, and only she knows what happens to those whose souls can't take it anymore.

Background story

Ruina hails from the Murnoe clan, a family now extinct, as they couldn't keep themselves among the top clans in Hell and most ended serving to other clans. Ruina never surrendered and became an independent succubus, but keeping her family name, of which she is still proud of. And in their name, Ruina has survived in Hell, making it to medium-high ranks, and has visited the mortals' worlds, including Felarya, where she felt better than in any other place, even better than in Hell.

Two hundreds years ago, Ruina found a way to stay in Felarya for a long time, in a nearly permanent way, without returning to Hell. She enjoyed this and always found a way to escape before anyone could discover her. But after decades, Ruina became careless and finally a group of magicians and priests, gathered due to the alarming decrease of population in many villages, found and ambushed her. And so, with their magic combined and nearly giving their lives to it, they could banish the succubus, keeping her away from any of the worlds were mortals roam.

Seemingly trapped in Hell forever, Ruina kept working on her tasks, many of them involving too many burocratic issues, and she grew uninterested. Life in Hell became monotone to her, not even souls tasted as well as they did in the past. Only practising her magic - mainly illusions and dimensional spells - saved her from dying of boredom.

One day, she discovered that although she couldn't reach the physical worlds of the mortal people, the ban didn't apply to their dreams, as Ruina could watch and even enter them. And as she knew mortal souls are projected somehow in them and that was what succubi used to leave messages to them, Ruina had an idea: she created a pocket realm, called Mondo Ruina, somewhere between worlds, not affected by the ban, where she can stay in her boring free time before going back to work... and lurk mortals' dreams.

She can use Mondo Ruina as a link with people's dreams, look at them, choose the best ones and eat their souls, even though such souls will return to their mortal bodies - they aren't dead yet, after all. This is also a good way for Ruina to learn on how the worlds have changed through people's dreams, and specially what's going on in her favorite realm: Felarya.

And thanks to her newly acquired knowledge during these years, Ruina has found a way to not only lift the ban on her, but also to stay in Felarya forever. However, Ruina needs the help of someone for this, someone in Felarya she can't feast on, and she must look for this individual...

As the whole "resizing craze" came, I've already done it for my three big girls:

Seelvee: changed from 100 ft. to 180 ft. Also, reworked some little details of hers.
Nanda: changed from 75 ft. to 95 ft. She isn't still too big, given her built.
Ruina: changed from 72 ft. to 112 ft. Also increased her wingspan, from 110 ft. to 165 ft.

Took the chance for tweaking and fixing all the bios as well, though not big changes were made.

Oh, hi, ladies and gentlemen! Seeing that I've posted again in my characters' thread you might be thinking "Damn, didn't Draug say he had enough with eight characters?". Sure, for now these 8 are my main chars, that's not gonna change. Support characters will appear eventually, with shorter and less detailed bios, but that's not the case here...

The reason I'm posting this is because... well... I'm in need of your help. You see, not so long ago, we were discussing some things about lesser known locations and species. One of the things pointed out was that people tended to abuse of making 'generic fairies, nagas, dridders...', that kind of thing. And I kind of feel bad about that, because I look at my predators... and they're generic. I mean, not in the sense of personality, I like to think I've created unique characters in terms of personality and looks... but in the sense of species. A generic fairy, a generic dryad, a generic dridder and a generic succubus.

I've been giving this a long thought and although I shouldn't feel bad for this and I like my characters the way they are right now - stories will mark their real development, anyway -, I'm sure that you guys might like it better - or not, who knows - if they belonged to a subspecies. At least it would help to develop them even further.

More precisely, I've been thinking of making Kyria a Canopy Fairy, as she's the easiest to fit in a subspecies among my four preds. Now, thinking of the subject and on what we know about Canopy Fairies...

Pros:
- She already has the more elven traits, her ears are longer and pointier than other fairies'.
- She loves staying in the top or at least at high places. Sure she likes to feel the ground under her feet, but she's very comfortable in large branches. Razz

Cons:
- She's nowhere reckless or wild, despite her leaf bikini... that would make you think of a hoola dancer rather than of a wild fairy.
- She knows no jack about dimensional magic. Maybe developing it in the future? Dunno, she left her parents long ago to live an independent life, seems they didn't bother teaching her this if they're Canopy Fairies... odd, right? And I don't want to see her meeting Subeta so she can teach Kyria how to be a Canopy Fairy like canon dictates. Razz

Things like that. As I said, Kyria serves here as an example since she's the easiest one to 'convert'. Looking at other possibilities, and being honest, it's clear the other preds should stay... generic. In no way Seelvee is a Bramble Dryad - only think she shares with them is having brown skin, have you seen any thorns in her or using her roots to attack and catch? I haven't and I'm her 'father' -, Nanda is already too odd for a dridder to look for her own subspecies and the less we talk of Ruina, the better.

So yeah, this whole rumbling ended up just for asking if I should definitely make Kyria a Canopy Fairy or leave her the way she is. Of course, last word still comes from me, but some feedback would be appreciated. And if she ends up being a Canopy Fairy, she'll need to learn the dimensional magic in the future... Razz

I have to appologize to you Feadraug, I'm not familiar with all your characters and I have only read part of your first story "Kyria's Breakfast" so far. (That was your first Felarya story right?) I'm making an effort to read everyone's stories but I obviously haven't been trying hard enough. Anyway, back on course, I don't see why her becoming a canopy fairy should be a big deal? As far as I know, canopy fairies are the closest to "normal" looking fairies. That might've been an ignorant statement. I say go for it. But then, that is ME saying it and... well, I'm not sure how much that's worth.

You have nothing to apologize for. The community is huge, there are many stories and characters and places to look forward to, so take your time - and yes, that's my first Felaryan story.

The big deal with the Canopy Fairy stuff comes mainly from those two cons I've pointed out. Kyria is the classic inocent-looking yet naughty fairy, and a bit childish too. That doesn't fit when you think of wild-like sentient beings. And the other part is the dimensional magic one. Why? Because she's stuck with a little magic for drawing and for writing words in the air and also the usual sizeshifting one. Nothing about dimensional magic.

I'm still thinking of it, yet thanks for coming around and sharing your opinion. Wink

It's update time!

- All predators have a predation level now. Mel has received this too, just to clarify her anti-tinies diet.
- Finally made up my mind: Kyria's subspecies is definitely Canopy fairy. There will be more on this subject in her stories.
- Nanda is classified as a wandering dridder. Also, stating her clan name, Korian, first said in the 'Underground dridder' story.
- Overall updates here and there... specially with changes in Kyria's and Nanda's feeding habits.
