The Tirastira intrigues me, what do their appearance look like ?
And I like the mee-moo ^^ an authentically cute and fuzzy creature. You don't see many of them in the Felarya fauna XP

Orecoat

A medium-sized, stocky theropod possessing swollen club-like arms and a flattened, puggish face. Relatively common in the Ascarlin Mountains, Orecoats feed solely on rocks and minerals, literally punching their way through the peaks to uncover them. A black-tar like substance secreted by their skin holds fast to what ores they find, and with enough foraging an Orecoat can manage itself a large amount of rocks covering its body, hence the name. This way an Orecoat has a stash of food wherever it goes, and it is not uncommon to see them picking at their bodies, removing choicy minerals from their coats to eat. These habits lead to the great chances of Orecoats having loads of of Ascarlin on their backs, turning them into a prize most sought after by miners and hunters.

PostSubject: Re: Slimetoad's randumb ideas   Slimetoad's randumb ideas - Page 9 Icon_minitimeTue Nov 22, 2011 1:28 am

At AJ's request, a bunch of critters for the Great Rocky Fields!

Chelom

A large, misshapen-looking reptile covered from head to tail in rock-hard spines and with hollow “nozzles” instead of eyes. Extremely jumpy, these creatures assault predators and prey alike with pressurized blasts of its blood, spewed in twin streams from its sockets. In contact with air the blood instantly catches into flames, and it will continue to spread on sand or rock for several minutes, either cornering chosen victims or giving the Chelom itself a chance to escape. It moves in an absolutely erratic pattern, crawling in a shivering manner between bursts of blinding speed

Lanhike

A leathery, toothed bird covered in overlapping black plates over blue-grey feathers. Lanhikes are small compared to other denizens of the Fields, but are strong enough to carry creatures around the size of a human in their wicked talons. Once their quarry has been caught, it will be carried all the way to the enormous cacti they nest on, and right away impale them in its spikes, alive or not, to keep the bodies away from scavengers and feed at their leisure. The image of a cactus peppered with the half eaten corpses of animals, nekos and human adventurers is a ghoulish sight for many.

Skitsneak

The Skitsneak is an arachnid that resembles a camel spider about 6 or 8 inches across, dark blue in coloration with massive, bright red mouthparts. Purely nocturnal, they usually feed on small animals such as rodents and lizards, but they have adapted to prey on larger creatures while they sleep. Once they bite on a soft tissue area they inject an enzyme that acts as both a strong anaesthetic and coagulant, which ensures they can feed at their leisure without the victim either waking up or bleeding to death. As they only consume small amounts of their victim at a time, it is not uncommon to see otherwise healthy animals in the vicinity going about their business with patches of missing flesh.

Whaqa

This dog-sized, mole-like creature keeps itself buried in soil or sand and only ever exposes its tail, a great thorny club that uncannily imitates a cactus. When small animals approach, they are taken down with a single swing and pulled underground with raking claws. Adventurers are well advised to avoid this creature; Whaqas don’t prey on humans, but they are more than willing to bash what they interpret as an immediate danger

Thirst Helix

A strange, knotted plant shaped like dark brown roots in a distinctive triple helix. The primitive magic field that surrounds the Thirst Helix drains water molecules from living beings and adds them to the plant, essentially dehydrating creatures that wander too close. The more one approaches the plant, the faster this process goes; unless the victim flees immediately, it’ll end as another half-buried, mummified corpse at its base

Piesa

Found all over the Fairy Kingdom, the Piesa is a small fruit eater believed to have been magically modified by fairies to serve as self-replenishing snacks. Combining traits of geckos and squirrels, their bodies are covered in a pinkish-blue fluff reported to taste as sweet as honey, constantly shed in bulky wads that fairies love to indulge on. For any non-fairy creature, however, this goop is a very annoying deterrant, for it sticks to hair and feathers for several weeks at a time and water only makes it stickier. Needless to say, this keeps the Piesa well protected against predators.

The Piesa themselves enjoy consuming their own fluff in moderation, but always react negatively if they're presented with that of another specimen

Meltiwolf

Mammalian predators from the Imoreith Tundra up to 27 feet long that resemble heavily furred, lean-bodied seals with huge mouths. A bulbous organ in the snout of the Meltiwolf generates enormous amounts of heat, capable of roasting alive other creatures by proximity and spouting twin gouts of flame from its nostrils. This ability allows the predator to simply "swim" through the ice, burning its path beneath the frozen wasteland with surprising speed to assault unsuspecting prey.

Crisbulch

Similar to a large baboon with crested, bony plates instead of hair, the Crisbulch of the Basalt Plains feeds on smaller animals but regularly breaks minerals with its pickaxe-like tail to consume them, storing them inside an unusually hot second stomach to be reduced to molten glass. When threatened or when preparing to hunt, the clever creature will regurgitate the substance and inmediately shape it into a convenient tool right before it hardens. Thus it is said you can't really capture a Crisbulch, for it will surely create the right item to ensure its escape in a matter of minutes.

Heheh, I figured Razz

Banpuche

The Banpuche from the Green Hell is a colossal mammal that looks remarkably like a giraffe, but its hair is long and dark purple, and their heads and necks are bristling with heavy horns and sharp, knobbly growths. Voracious herbivores, they usually do little else but wander about feeding on what vegetal matter they find in their path, but all of that changes the moment another of their kind enters their territory. Simple hearing one another's trumpeting call sends the Banpuche into an intense territorial hatred, and they will follow that sound from miles away, crushing everything in sight, just to engage in battle. Individuals of the same gender invariably clash to the death, while a male and female will simply tire each other out long enough for mating to take place. Young are already capable of walking moments after birth, which they must do inmediately before their mothers recognize them as a threat

Glopet

Much larger, muscular and more fit to live on land than their Mapet cousins, these car-sized amphibians are raised within Negav to consume all manners of refuse, processing it into large, spongy feces considered to be highly efficient fuel and fertilizer. Their massive, cavernous jaws can accommodate vast amounts of "food", and both saliva and stomach juices can break down even inorganic materials such as metal and plastic, regurgitating them later in lumpy pellets for easy disposal.

While otherwise mellow in nature, Glopets share the indiscriminate eating habits of Mapets, and handlers must keep them an eye on them at all times so they do not go overboard. A persistent urban legend in the Lower Tier even suggests it is down a Glopet's ravenous gullet where trespassers and traitors end their days.

Scorpinagre

A large, vaguely humanoid creature very similar to a lionfish, the Scorpinagre inhabits the Chanossa Mangrove and is considered among its most beautiful denizens, brilliantly colored in the full color spectrum with neon blue eyes and white stripes constantly flowing down its body. But this breathtaking display also warns of its toxicity. A Scorpinagre has two large glands on each cheek that distribute a powerful venom to every single spur in its body. Small doses cause agonizing, crippling pain that persists for days, while a greater quantity induces a coma plagued by uncontrollable spasms followed by eventual death if an antidote is not procured. Naturally this makes Scorpinagres very feared, and they're even known to attack far larger slug girls.

Scorpinagres darken their bodies to pitch black at rest, passing themselves for a rock or sunken log in the underwater forest. They seem to prefer dark environments, and will drag their prey to the depths whenever possible

Remptor

Appearing as a monstrous mound of thick grey fur and fatty folds, the Remptor resides within caves high on Frost Peak and appears to spend all its time in a deep sleep, but it is in fact constantly looking for prey. Its innate magic probes the minds of sleeping creatures, invading their dreams, and unless their will is strong enough, they will be forced to sleep-walk or crawl their way towards the Remptor's lair. The beast will then wake up long enough to swallow its prey and regurgitate the bones of former meals before returning to hibernation.

A Remptor is disturbingly humanoid beneath its coat, albeit blind and skeletal. Sapient beings that manage to repel their dream invasions describe them as entirely different beasts than in reality, horrible to behold

Melonife

Specially abundant in the Kryromia fields, the Melonife is a towering mantis-like creature whose body is little more than winding limbs, but extremely ornate and colorful to the point of being indistinguishable from a flower when still. Extremely nimble and flexible, these creatures stay motionless in a frozen contorted pose until prey draws near, at which point they reveal themselves in a slow and elegant dance. Sparks of bright green magic energy and a mournful "song" will further enchant the victim into submission, and eventually it will be brought down with a single strike of a scythe-like talon

Melonifes appear to hold Bloom Dryads in high reverence and often flock to their presence, forming surreal "gardens" of devoted dancers around them. The elementals themselves don't seem to mind, as the creatures provide praise and a larger stream of prey, but there are cases of male specimens getting too carried away and attempting copulation with their Dryad "mistress"

Abomogon

Almost the opposite to the Rilmanidon, the Abomogon is a bullet-shaped, newt-like beast that spends its entire existence right under the surface of the water, swimming on its back with strong paddle-like limbs. Capable of considerable bursts of speed, they frequently attack creatures such as their fellow watersprinters, suddenly appearing below to drag them underwater. Their hooked teeth can actually retract and extend from their gums like switchblades, making wicked traps for struggling prey. When not on the hunt, Abomogons are surprisingly sluggish, and algae often grows in upside-down gardens on their finned backs

Ooze Drake

Known to appear on the Misty Mire and its surroundings, this translucent, gelatinous wyvern is a master of mucus production, specialized salivary glands secreting an enzyme that loosens the molecular structure of water to create the slimiest, most powerful adhesive known in Felarya. Ooze Drakes usually use this tactic to "jellify" surrounding water to suffocate or at least trap prey and adversaries alike, but will also combine it with ingested gallons of water to defend themselves with pressurized streams of slime. At rest. they collapse their bodies into a gelatinous pile to disguise themselves beneath the foggy water

Mist Elves sometimes use the slime of the Ooze Drakes to set traps and reinforce structures in their villages

Hm, the Melonife feels like a smaller, prettier, and more passive version of the archmantis.

How big are these creatures anyway?

The Archmantis is about 90-110 ft and lives primarily in Deeper Felarya I think.

Ah, that's small ^^; what about the others? o.o

Gyozzo

Reaching more than 30 feet in lenght, the Gyozzo is a powerful aquatic predator that superficially resembles a sturgeon, while also combining traits of crocodilians and toothed whales. Inhabiting the Shard River, it is easily identified for its ruffled "cheek gills" and it has an habit of consuming everything it even remotely finds edible, with reports of discarded armor pieces, scrap metal, whole bundles of rope and even wheels found in Gyozzo stomachs. Its meat and eggs are considered a delicacy, to the point the denizens of Safe Harbor organize and send out fishing parties if one is sighted. The presence of the giantess Jade often makes their capture a much easier ordeal

Terabuncle

This mysterious, horrifying entity is said to exist in the Tenebra Maze, but few have faced them and even less people have survived to tell the tale. Described only as twisted, impossibly proportioned "bodies", Terabuncles drift aimlessly through the dark tunnels like morbid jellyfish and vent some manner of gas upon finding prey, sending them in a paralyzing, but conscious coma. Once prey is helpless, the entities are said to then hover above them and fuse their own bodies with that of the victim, adding them to the ever growing and vastly diverse conglomerate of their warped bodies and trapping the poor souls into an agonizing, mindless hell.

Some have whispered that over time, a Terabuncle's flesh-collection grows so large they are unable to float, and then seek out each other to join together in slimy, obscene doldrums so large they can block tunnels for several yards
